The IPDP is an interdisciplinary outpatient program located in Psychiatric Outpatient
Services of Bellevue Hospital Center (BHC-MHC).  The IPDP provides integrative
treatment, comprehensive assessment, research and teaching with regard to patients
suffering mainly from personality pathologies (Axis-II).  Therapeutic treatments are
based on an integrative model approach that includes Cognitive-Behavior Therapy
(CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Transference-Focused Psychotherapy
(TFP), Trauma Therapy and systemic modalities with a marked
psychodynamic/relational emphasis.  The model of treatment is based on theoretical
and empirical models of character pathology and treatment - including Masterson,
Kernberg, Kohut, Herman, and Linehan treatment modalities.

The IPDP offers unique exposure for trainees who are interested in learning
assessment, treatment and research of character pathologies.  Trainees are required to
1) participate in one hour a week didactic group including case presentations,
on-going lectures on personality theory, and treatment lectures on personality testing
and assessment (e.g., MMPI-2, MCMI-3, PAI-2, Rorschach, WAIS-3, WASI, TAT,
etc.); 2) twice a week individual therapy sessions per patient; 3) twice a week
individual supervision; 4) once a week co-leading a DBT group; and 5) administer 2-3
psychological test batteries.  Each trainee will carry a minimum caseload of 4-5
patients per academic year.
